Pastor Appreciation Month

October is Pastor Appreciation month and we are excited to get the opportunity to bless our Shiloh pastors and shower appreciation on them!

Our world and nation have faced challenging times since last March. Pastor Greg and Pastor Ed have had to lean on the Lord to lead Shiloh through these times. We are so thankful for their leadership and unwavering faith that has encouraged us all to keep our eyes on Jesus.

In 1 Timothy 5:17 it says, "Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching." Paul highlights the fact that our Pastors should be considered worthy of double honor for assuming this role in His church and doing it well. But, typically with double honor you can expect double stress. This is why we need to make an even greater effort to celebrate and encourage those in leadership.  This is the one time during the year where we are reminded to consider our Pastors, think specifically about their needs and how you personally, or we as a congregation, can encourage them and their family.

We know things at church look different right now. Some of you continue to worship online with Shiloh while others of you attend each week in a safe and distanced manner. Just the same, we are one congregation united in the Lord and under the leadership of Pastor Greg & Meg and Pastor Ed & Barb. It is during these times that we are seeking to be creative in giving and showing appreciation.

Here are four ways you can share your appreciation:

1. Write. Beginning this Sunday we will have a table set up at church where you can write a note of thanks or scripture of encouragement. You are welcome to bring a card and gift and drop it off at the table.

2. Share. We are hoping to surprise the pastors with short videos of thanks in services on Sunday mornings. You might be a person especially thankful for the pastor's help OR maybe they have touched your life in such a way that you want to speak a word of appreciation. If you would be willing to participate, please record a short (less than 30-second) video on your phone and upload to our Dropbox here: (Video submissions will be open through 10/28)

3. Give. We have created a private giving fund where you can contribute monetarily. All donations will be put together to purchase a special gift for our Pastors and their wives. This is a private link so you will not find it on our website! (This link will be open through 10/31. You can also give via cash or check with a "Pastor Appreciation" memo by 10/31.)

4. Email. Whether you can participate in any of the above or not, consider emailing Greg or Ed a note of thanks and appreciation. It will mean a lot to them! ( |

God bless you and thank you for being part of Pastor Appreciation Month at Shiloh!
